Buying a website for personal or business use. Then this article is for you. I have collated a check list that will hopefully keep you on the straight and narrow, throughout your site construction phase, prior to launching your website to major search engines for indexing. The biggest tip I can give at this stage is to construct everything pertaining to your new website as draft using a simple word doc. I will be covering the following topics: To keep your feet firmly on the ground, as we do not want you to be running before you can walk.

– Head Title. – Head Description. – Head Keywords. – Body Text. – Internal Links.

The five topics above we will look at individually to ensure that we get each stage right before you progress to the next. Getting it right now, will save heart ache and pain later.

Check 1 - Head Title Key Elements:

Your head title plays a major part in your site structure as everything else your construct thereafter will fall out of your head title.

– Your website should always derive from your sites rich description content. Remember we covered this in your domain selection.

– The makeup of your title should not exceed 10 words or 60 characters, remember to keep all that is important within the first half of your title.

– Where possible make the first word or phrase match with your keyword(s), ensuring your title starts with a capital letter.

– Make your title appeal to the human reader.

Check 2 - Head Description:

Descriptions are key to the search engine optimization jigsaw get this right and your halfway their.

– The "description here" should relate to the rich body content of your page.

– Description should be no longer than 20 words or 120 characters.

– Do use words that relate to your page.

– Do not use repeat phrases in your description.

– Do start your description with a capital letter.

– Remember your description must appeal to the human reader.

– Descriptions should be short and straight to the point.

Check 3 - Head Keywords:

– Your Keywords should be extracted from your rich body text in accordance with importance.

– Add only the important ones.

– If your page has more than one topic, consider adding one for each topic.

– If your page is rather vague then use more keywords.

– If you use too many keywords then the value of each will be less than if you only use one, two or three keywords.

– Remember keywords are very important use unique ones relating to your body content.

Check 4 - Body Text:

At this early stage of understanding the basics, I fully recommend you keep your body content clean and simple, do not start being clever now:

– Use proper sentences with verbs.

– Use capitalization were applicable.

– Use of good grammar.

– Spelling and punctuation.

– Introduction; what's your page all about in general.

– Meat of your content; what's your page all about in detail.

– If required a quick conclusion of the above two.

– Spread them out in an even manner throughout your sentences.

– At this stage use bold on 3 of your keywords top, middle and bottom of your body text.

– At this stage spell, grammar and punctuation check.

Check 5 - Internal Links:

Internal links on a single page is a great navigational tool for potential brewers to utilize during their visit. This lets them move about your page without scrolling forever up and down.

– Link from paragraph to paragraph.

– Link from bottom of page back to top.

– Link from your page back to homepage.

– If linking to other internal pages, use good anchor text links that relate to the said destination page.
